Sugar is an important component of our daily carbohydrate intake. The main application in food, including beverages, is sweetening. Important industrial properties of food products containing sugar are flow properties, appearance, solubility, dust content and taste. Besides numerous sugar grinding processes, Hosokawa Micron is very familiar with mixing and agglomeration processes involving sugar. One specific application is icing sugar coating, to produce a hydrophobic (non-hygroscopic) powdered sugar for decorative means in the bakery sector.
