Nauta® Service

Most powder manufacturers will have heard the name Nauta, but we want to use this page to tell you how much more Hosokawa Micron's Nauta department has to offer apart from mixers.

As well as batch and continuous mixing equipment, Hosokawa Micron develops and manufactures drying and agglomeration equipment. Then there are accessories like grinders, globe valves, samplers and jets as well as equipment housings and laboratory installations. Hosokawa Micron has a workforce of 25 dedicated to servicing this equipment, with eight of them continually on the road. One of the first mixers we made, dating from 1946, is kept at Hosokawa's premises at Doetinchem. The machine hasn't been used in production for many years but it still looks spick and span.

Transparency

Service Team Manager Gerrit Hoefman has been with Hosokawa for 17 years and tells us about the strengths of his department: "We have everything in our own hands in this business, from engineering right through to commissioning. Then there's our open and transparent working methodology: a customer can walk in at any time to look over our shoulders. This allows us to demonstrate our commitment and reliability, with longstanding collaborations leading to the creation of firm bonds between us and our clients.

Requests for service

Marcel Meijer, one of four Service Sales Engineers, worked for the company in the 1980s, even before the merger of Nautamix Haarlem and Vrieco Zelhem. He describes how his department handles requests for service. He or one of his colleagues will take the call from the client and start to analyse the underlying problems while the client is explaining the situation. "At that stage we will already be making suggestions about the possible causes. If we can't sort things out there and then we may ask to see photographs or visit the site to investigate. The next step is to prepare a quotation for the work and any components required, then once the quotation has been accepted we move on to the planning stage. Preventative maintenance is also an important aspect of our work. This involves inspection of the most critical aspects at agreed periods, perhaps involving vibration measurements and other tests on the customer's equipment."

Quality

As well as process engineers there are many other technically qualified staff at Hosokawa Micron. They are not only available to repair defects as quickly as possible so that you can get back to serving your customers, they can also provide training for your staff. Our extensive test facilities mean that no equipment will leave the premises without a thorough inspection and approval. Repaired equipment can also be tested if required before it is put back into service.
