The Extrudomix mixer/extruder has a single horizontal shaft with blade segments arranged in a spiral pattern that move the material through the chamber. Material is fed into the housing at one end and forced forward by the rotating blade segments until it comes in contact with the stationary anvil. Stationary anvils attached to the housing and inserted between the rotating blade segments prevent the material from rotating with the shaft.
The resulting effect is continuous kneading and mixing, followed by extrusion through a variety of die which are available in different shapes and sizes. The Extrudomix mixer/extruder has better particle dispersion in comparison to higher pressure systems. It is also less expensive to buy and less expensive to operate.
